Gerri Black Obituary, Death; – The individual who perished in a fire in New Castle last week has been named.
The Lawrence County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the victim as 59-year-old Gerri Black. Black lost her life in a fire that occurred in a residence located on the 100 block of Good Avenue on Thursday, December 4.
Black had contacted dispatchers, indicating that she was unable to escape through the window. Firefighters entered the residence in an attempt to rescue Black, but their efforts were in vain.
Another male resident of the house managed to escape but sustained burns to his feet.
