James E Echols Obituary, Death; – An Overland Park resident lost his life in a two-vehicle accident in Riley County, Kansas, on Tuesday.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, shortly after 11 a.m. on Tuesday, the operator of a 2005 Ford Super Duty truck was heading north on Kansas Highway 177, approximately one mile south of Deep Creek Road, south of Manhattan, when it collided with the rear of a 2012 Hyundai Accent.
The impact of the crash propelled the Hyundai into a ditch adjacent to the roadway. The Ford came to rest on the shoulder of the highway.
The driver of the Hyundai, later identified as James E. Echols, 54, from Overland Park, succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident.
A 52-year-old female passenger in the Hyundai was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Ford, a 17-year-old female, did not sustain significant injuries.
