Edashia Caraway Obituary, Death; – A woman from Wisconsin has been confirmed as a homicide victim due to a hit-and-run incident on the Twin Spans early Tuesday, as stated by the St. Tammany Parish coroner.

The Louisiana State Police responded to a report of a body located on the eastbound Twin Spans near mile marker 260 at approximately 2 a.m. on October 21. The deceased was later identified as 26-year-old Edashia Caraway from Appleton, Wisconsin.

Authorities noted that she was set to turn 27 on Wednesday, October 22.

The initial investigation by LSP indicated that Caraway was walking on the eastbound lanes of I-10, roughly three miles from Old Spanish Trail, when she was struck by a 2026 Mazda CX-5. Troopers mentioned that another vehicle might have hit her prior to the Mazda.

Caraway was declared dead at the scene.

According to state police, the driver of the Mazda was wearing a seatbelt and did not sustain any injuries. Standard toxicology samples were collected from both individuals for further analysis.

Coroner investigators reported that Caraway’s family had made arrangements for her to travel to New Orleans for a concert in celebration of her birthday. She was scheduled to return home on Tuesday morning, as indicated in a release.

Following discussions with her family, investigators located the hotel where she had been staying in New Orleans and requested the staff to secure the room for evidence collection.

The Louisiana State Police later announced their intention to process the scene and gather evidence.

Dr. Christopher Tape stated that he had requested a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner to collect evidence from the victim’s body. An autopsy performed on Tuesday afternoon revealed “multiple blunt force injuries” resulting from a “vehicle-vs.-pedestrian impact,” according to a release.

The coroner classified the death as a homicide due to a hit-and-run. An investigation is currently underway. Stay tuned to WWL Louisiana for further updates.
