Jamir Leggett Obituary, Death; – A 23-year-old man, identified by city police as Jamir Leggett, was killed near Wilmington’s Ninth Ward neighborhood on October 19.
The shooting incident over the weekend marks an increase in the number of individuals fatally injured by gunfire in Wilmington compared to the same period in 2024.
At this time last year, 81 individuals had been shot, with 14 fatalities, as reported by a Delaware Online/The News Journal database. Thus far this year, 71 individuals have been shot in Wilmington, with 16 of those resulting in death.
Leggett was shot in the vicinity of West 29th and North Washington streets, as per police reports. Officers who arrived at the scene discovered him with gunshot wounds.
He was taken in critical condition to a local hospital, where he subsequently passed away.
