Pearl Lukas Obituary, Death;- Police have identified the pedestrian struck and killed by a driver early Thursday morning in East Hartford as Pearl Lukas, an 80-year-old town resident. The incident took place at the intersection of Silver Lane and Forbes Street around 5:15 a.m. Thursday, according to police.
Officers were called to the scene for reports of the crash involving a pedestrian, police spokesperson Officer Marc Caruso said.
First responders found Lukas lying roadway, he said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver involved in the crash remained on scene and was cooperating with police, Caruso said Thursday. The crash occurred near Sunset Ridge School, a middle school.
