Jesus Torrez Loya Jr Obituary, Death; – The Kern County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of a man who lost his life after being hit by a vehicle on Norris Road as 31-year-old Jesus Torrez Loya Jr. from Bakersfield.
On Thursday, October 9, 2025, at approximately 8:55 p.m., the California Highway Patrol received a call regarding an incident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Norris Road, east of Stockton Avenue.
According to CHP, an initial investigation revealed that a 27-year-old man from Bakersfield was operating a 2010 silver Toyota Corolla in an eastbound direction on Norris Road, specifically in the number one lane, at a speed of around 45 miles per hour.
For reasons that are still being investigated, Torrez Loya Jr. was crossing southbound on Norris Road from the north shoulder, outside of a designated crosswalk. The driver of the Toyota was unable to take evasive measures and consequently struck him, as reported by CHP.
Torrez Loya Jr. was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota promptly stopped in the vicinity and has been cooperative with the ongoing investigation.
CHP has stated that it remains unclear whether alcohol and/or drugs played a role in the incident.
