Hugh MacFarland Obituary, Death; – A man has lost his life in a fire that occurred early Tuesday morning in Harpswell, as reported by the Maine Department of Public Safety.
The incident took place at 1501 Harpswell Neck Road, according to department spokesperson Shannon Moss.
“Firefighters undertook fire suppression efforts and discovered one individual within the residence,” Moss stated. “The individual was extricated from the building and was pronounced dead at the scene.”
Hugh MacFarland, aged 78, from Harpswell has been provisionally identified as the victim, as per Moss.
The chief medical examiner’s office is tasked with determining the cause and manner of death, Moss indicated.
The cause of the fire, which caused considerable damage to the home, is currently under investigation, according to Moss.
