Oreshama Johnson,Calvin Plant Obituary, Death; – The Washington County coroner identified six people who died in an overnight mass shooting.
The shooting happened around 12:38 a.m. on Saturday. Coroner LaQuesha Watkins arrived and observed four unresponsive individuals lying on the ground with no signs of life.
She reported that the four were pronounced dead and notified the next of kin. She identified the four as Oreshama Johnson, 41; Calvin Plant, 19; Shelbyona Powell, 25; and Kaslyn Johnson, 18.
Around 10:25 a.m. on Saturday, Watkins’ department received notice from the Hinds County Coroner’s Office that another victim, Amos Brantley Jr., 18, died from his injuries.
Around 11:50 a.m. on Saturday, Watkins’ department also received notice from the Shelby County Medical Examiner that JaMichael Jones, 34, died from his injuries.
Watkins’ department reported the bodies are in the care of the coroner’s office and will be transported to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for autopsies.
