Dinora Aleman Amaya Obituary, Death; – Montgomery County authorities have identified Dinora Aleman Amaya, a 30-year-old resident of Germantown, as the individual who tragically lost her life in a pedestrian accident on Monday night in Gaithersburg.
According to police reports, at approximately 9:18 p.m., Amaya was struck by a southbound 2019 Honda Civic while she was crossing Great Seneca Highway near Kentlands Boulevard. The incident occurred as she was making her way toward Orchard Ridge Road. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is currently cooperating with the investigation.
Emergency responders from the Montgomery County Police, Gaithersburg City Police, and the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) were promptly dispatched to the location. Despite the medical assistance provided by MCFRS personnel, Amaya was pronounced dead at the scene.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another pedestrian fatality in Gaithersburg, where 53-year-old Dominique Mwepu was killed in a similar collision just a week prior. In the aftermath of Monday night’s accident, police closed Great Seneca Highway at both Quince Orchard Boulevard and Lakelands Drive to facilitate their investigation.
