Joseph Wayne Sands Obituary, Death; – Madison County Coroner Nicholas P. Novacich has confirmed the identity of the individual who lost his life in a crash on Sunday morning.
Joseph Wayne Sands, aged 63, from Cottage Hills, was declared deceased at 4:25 a.m. following an incident on the northbound lane of Interstate 55, close to mile marker 8.
According to investigators, Sands had reduced his speed when he was struck from behind by a box truck. Following the impact, Sands’ vehicle ignited in flames.
The operator of the box truck was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
