Megan Stedman Obituary, Death; – The individual charged with the murder of his girlfriend in the parking lot of Walmart in Bozeman in December 2023 has altered his plea to guilty.
Prosecutors assert that Christopher Foiles, a Spokane resident, killed 34-year-old Megan Stedman along with her dog in their RV while it was parked in the store’s lot. Stedman had been reported missing.

Last week, Foiles entered a guilty plea to deliberate homicide as part of a plea agreement. Prosecutors are requesting that Foiles receive a 60-year prison sentence.
However, District Court Judge Rienne H. McElyea has only conditionally accepted the plea agreement and the plea itself until she has had the chance to review his Pre-Sentence Investigation Report.
Sentencing is scheduled for November 25.
Foiles was initially charged with deliberate homicide in Idaho after law enforcement found him with Stedman’s body in their RV in Idaho Falls on January 12, 2024.
According to the charging documents submitted in Gallatin County, Stedman and Foiles were observed entering the Bozeman Walmart on December 14, 2023. After returning to their RV, Stedman was never seen again.
Foiles reportedly returned to Walmart on December 15 and was captured on security footage alone, purchasing various items including cleaning supplies, a hacksaw, duct tape, and 55-gallon contractor bags. The affidavit indicates that Foiles entered Walmart again on December 16 and bought additional items, such as scent killer, bleach, spray paint, and curtains.
Arrest records from the Idaho Falls Police Department (IFPD) revealed that Foiles, who was arrested in Idaho Falls on January 12, 2024, confessed to police that he murdered Megan Stedman, who had been reported missing from the Bozeman/Livingston area since December 15, 2023.
IFPD officers received a report from a witness who spotted the motorhome that Bozeman Police had been searching for and identified it as being linked to Stedman.

When officers searched the motorhome, they found a woman’s body with credit cards in the name of Megan Stedman and a tattoo matching the description of one worn by Stedman.
On Feb. 8, 2024, Foiles allegedly made a phone call from the Bonneville County Jail that was recorded, in which he admitted to killing Stedman in Bozeman. The affidavit states that Foiles also admitted to killing Stedman’s dog, Cali. He also faced a charge of aggravated animal cruelty, along with charges of deliberate homicide, identity theft, tampering with evidence, violating a no-contact order, and obstructing a peace officer.
According to court documents, Foiles admitted to killing her while being questioned by police in Idaho Falls a few weeks later.
