Michael Mendez Mendez Obituary, Death;- A man from Webster City has been identified as the passenger who tragically lost his life on Sunday night in a single-vehicle accident in rural Wright County.
The Iowa State Patrol has confirmed the victim as 36-year-old Michael Mendez Mendez. Mendez was riding in a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt, which was driven by Antoni Castanon Coronado, whose address remains unknown. The incident occurred on Wright County R-38, approximately eight miles south of Clarion.
The vehicle, driven by Coronado, was heading south when the passenger side veered off the edge of the road. The driver attempted to correct the steering, resulting in a loss of control. Subsequently, the car collided with a utility pole and entered a cornfield, where it caught fire.
Mendez was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Both Coronado and another passenger, Josue Castanon Coronado, were taken to a hospital to receive treatment for their injuries. The fire and ambulance services from Clarion and Eagle provided assistance at the accident site on Sunday night.
