Denise Mathew, Scott Mathew Obituary, Death: – Authorities have confirmed the identities of the individuals involved in a murder-suicide incident that occurred in Astoria on Wednesday. The deceased, a married couple, were discovered with gunshot wounds inside the office of the Bayshore Apartments, situated near 1400 West Marine Drive.
The Astoria police reported that the couple, 51-year-old Denise Mathew, who served as the apartment manager, and her husband, 57-year-old Scott Mathew, were found by a maintenance worker. This employee alerted the police after noticing the couple lying on the floor of one of the apartment buildings and described them as “bleeding profusely.”
Preliminary findings indicate that Scott Mathew fatally shot his wife, Denise, before subsequently taking his own life. The investigation remains active, and authorities are urging anyone with further information to reach out to the Astoria police.
