Nefertari Holston Obituary, Death; – A college cross-country athlete tragically collapsed and passed away during a competition last weekend in Georgia.
Local news outlets WGXA and WMGT reported that 23-year-old Nefertari Holston, hailing from Dothan, Alabama, died at the event on Saturday. Holston was a member of the cross-country team at Wesleyan College located in Macon, Georgia. She was competing in the MGA/Julius Johnson Invitational held at Middle Georgia State University in Macon.
According to Macon-Bibb County coroner Leon Jones, Holston suffered cardiac arrest and was immediately transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. On that day, temperatures in the region reached the mid-90s, although it remains uncertain whether the heat played a role in her condition. Authorities have indicated that an autopsy will be conducted.
