David K. Fife Obituary, Death; – A man has been charged with second-degree murder following an incident in which he allegedly shot and killed his neighbor in the driveway after a confrontation during which both individuals were armed.
Deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting on Bennie Lane, located outside of Lake Charles, at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Before the deputies arrived, the 911 caller, identified as 26-year-old Christian K. Bourriague, informed dispatchers that he had shot his neighbor, 56-year-old David K. Fife, after Fife advanced towards him in the driveway. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered Fife’s body, which had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Bourriague and Fife had engaged in a verbal dispute. Fife had armed himself and approached Bourriague, who was also in possession of a handgun. Although Fife eventually set down his weapon, he continued to advance towards Bourriague, prompting Bourriague to fire at Fife. The investigation remains ongoing.
