Jonathan Swarthout Obituary, Death; – The individual who lost his life after being trapped inside an excavator in Fresno County on Tuesday was named by the Fresno County Coroner’s Office on Wednesday.

The coroner’s office confirmed the identity of the worker as 35-year-old Jonathan Swarthout from Los Banos, who was a father of four and a husband. Swarthout died when the excavator he was operating overturned against a boulder, trapping him inside.

This tragic event occurred on Tuesday morning at Academy Quarry, situated on Tollhouse Road in Fresno County. According to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office, the excavator was in the process of loading rock into a dump truck when it overturned. The cab of the excavator came to rest on the boulder, pinning the worker inside.

At approximately 8 a.m., deputies arrived at the location and discovered the man pinned against a rock, caught between the boulder and the excavator. The injuries sustained by the man were a result of the equipment overturning and colliding with the boulder.

Firefighters managed to extricate the man, but he was declared dead at the scene. The California Occupational Safety and Health Administration has initiated an investigation into the incident.
