Elaine Weamer Obituary, Death;- A woman lost her life and two drivers were hospitalized following a collision involving two vehicles on Saturday afternoon in Antioch.
The incident took place around 2:35 p.m. at the intersection of Routes 173 and 83, as reported by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
According to authorities, a Honda that was heading south on Route 83 attempted to make a turn east onto Route 173, resulting in a collision with a Hyundai traveling northbound.
Both vehicles suffered significant damage. The drivers of both vehicles, along with a passenger in the Hyundai, were transported to local hospitals.
The passenger, who has been identified as 78-year-old Elaine Weamer from Hainesville, was declared deceased at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. An autopsy revealed that she died from blunt force trauma sustained during the crash, according to the coroner’s office.
The current conditions of the drivers remain unknown.
The Antioch Police Department, along with the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, is conducting an investigation.
