Connor L Nolan Obituary, Death; – A 20-year-old motorcyclist lost his life and a bicyclist sustained injuries in an accident that occurred Thursday night at the intersection of Route 37 and Commonwealth Boulevard, according to police reports.
The Manchester Township Police Department indicated that officers arrived at the scene around 8:30 p.m. and discovered a gray bicycle lying in the intersection alongside a black 2024 Kawasaki Ninja 500 motorcycle that had fallen on its side in the westbound lanes.
The motorcyclist, identified as Connor L. Nolan from Manchester Township, was declared dead at the scene due to injuries incurred during the crash. Authorities noted that he was wearing a DOT-approved helmet at the time of the incident.
The bicyclist, Kimberly Reinschmidt, 49, also from Manchester Township, suffered suspected internal injuries as well as lacerations to her left hand and arm. She was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where her condition was reported as stable, according to police.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Nolan was heading westbound on Route 37 when Reinschmidt entered the crosswalk from Commonwealth Boulevard. The motorcycle collided with the front of the bicycle, resulting in Nolan losing control and crashing into a concrete center barrier, which ejected him from the motorcycle, police stated.
The roadway was closed for several hours as emergency responders and investigators conducted their work at the scene.
Authorities indicated that disregard for a traffic signal and excessive speed appear to be contributing factors in the crash, which is still under investigation by Patrolman Conner Yatauro and Patrolman Anthony DeBalsio from the department’s Traffic Safety Unit.
