Suzzane K Colbert Obituary, Death; – A 60-year-old Arlington woman was identified Tuesday as the person who died from injuries received during a five-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on northbound I-495 near Braddock Road in Fairfax County, according to the Virginia State Police.
The crash, which occurred around 3:08 p.m., involved a Toyota Tacoma, a Scion XB, a Honda Civic, a Ford F150 and a Nissan Rougue, according to state police.
“At this point in the investigation, it appears the Toyota Tacoma was unable to avoid striking the Scion XB, which was stopped in the right travel lane of the Express Lanes,” according to the state police. “The crash occurred a short distance before bollards appear to separate the general purpose lanes and Express Lanes. Traffic was flowing at normal speeds at the time of the crash.”
The Tacoma then rolled over multiple times, starting a chain reaction crash involving the Civic, the F350 and the Rogue, police say.
Suzzane K. Colbert of Arlington, who was driving the Scion XB, was taken to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries, according to the state police.
The drivers of the Tacoma and the F350, as well as a passsenger and the driver of the Civic were also taken to area hospitals, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
