Cousins Jakele Pusey,Jovani Harriott Arrested; – Cousins Jakele Pusey, aged 17, and Jovani Harriott, aged 19, were sentenced to life imprisonment in May 2023, receiving minimum terms of 16 and 18 years, respectively, for the murder of Khayri Mclean.
The duo had ambushed Khayri outside his school in Huddersfield, donning masks and wielding large knives, before assaulting him in front of other shocked schoolchildren.

Leeds Crown Court was informed that six months after their murder sentencing, Pusey and Harriott were incarcerated together at HMP Wetherby when they, along with two other teenagers, initiated a group assault on another inmate in the prison gym.
They employed “improvised weapons” to stab the victim over 20 times on his arm, lower back, and head while he lay defenseless on the ground.
Pusey and Harriott both admitted to charges of grievous bodily harm and possession of a knife in prison.
Pusey, who was 16 at the time of the initial crime, received an additional 32 months in prison, on top of his sentence for Khayri’s murder. Harriott, who was 18 at the time, was given an extra 38 months in prison.
Judge Ray Singh removed a reporting restriction that had prevented Pusey from being named due to his age, stating that he had already been identified in the murder case.

The court was shown footage of the prison assault in November 2023, which depicted Harriott and Pusey positioned against the gym wall, observing the victim as he exercised.
As the victim knelt on a bench to lift weights, one of their co-defendants, who the judge noted could not be named due to being 17 and never having been publicly identified, struck the victim in the face.
The court noted that this appeared to trigger the premeditated attack, as within moments of the punch, Pusey and Harriott left the wall and began to strike the victim.
