Anissa Cope Obituary, Death; – A 49-year-old woman was tragically fatally stabbed during a domestic violence incident in the Lincoln Park neighborhood on Saturday night.
The victim has been identified as Anissa Cope by the Duluth Police Department on Monday. The suspect, Corddarro Andrew Cope, aged 37, is currently being held at the St. Louis County Jail facing preliminary charges of unintentional second-degree murder and domestic assault.
According to a news release, police received a call regarding the incident at approximately 7:30 p.m. to the 600 block of North 27th Avenue West. Upon arrival, officers discovered Anissa Cope suffering from stab wounds. Despite attempts to save her life, those efforts were unsuccessful.
Police reported that Corddarro Cope fled the scene in a vehicle. He was subsequently located on Interstate 35 in Pine County and apprehended without any incident. Additional details regarding the incident have yet to be disclosed as the investigation is ongoing. The St. Louis County Attorney’s Office is anticipated to make a formal charging decision by Tuesday, although a judge may grant an extension until Wednesday.
This stabbing marks the fourth homicide incident reported in St. Louis County within a span of 15 days, following two individuals being shot to death in Chisholm on June 17, the killing of a Duluth man in Central Hillside on June 14, and the discovery of a Hermantown couple deceased in a suspected domestic violence-related murder-suicide on June 13.
