Tito Jackson Obituary, Death; – Tito Jackson, a member of the iconic pop ensemble the Jackson 5, has passed away at the age of 70. As the third of nine siblings, Tito was part of a family that included renowned artists Michael and Janet Jackson, whose music continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.
In a he
artfelt statement shared on Instagram late Sunday, his sons TJ, Taj, and Taryll expressed their sorrow: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson. We are shocked, saddened, and heartbroken. Our father was an extraordinary man who cared deeply for everyone and their well-being.”
The Jackson 5 comprised brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael. This family group, which was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997, achieved numerous No. 1 hits during the 1970s, including “ABC,” “I Want You Back,” and “I’ll Be There.”
Under the direction of their father, Joe Jackson, a steelworker and guitarist, the Jackson 5 emerged as a dominant force in the music industry, eventually relocating to California as their careers flourished.
Born on October 15, 1953, Toriano Adaryll “Tito” Jackson primarily contributed as a background vocalist and guitarist, often remaining in the shadows compared to his brothers, who pursued successful solo careers. Michael Jackson, in particular, became a global sensation, famously known as the King of Pop.
Michael Jackson passed away at the age of 50 on June 25, 2009.
In a December 2009 interview with The Associated Press, Tito reflected on how his younger brother’s death brought the family closer together. “I would say definitely it brought us a step closer to each other. To recognize that the love we have for each other when one of us is not here, what a great loss,” he remarked, noting that he would personally never find peace with the loss.
“There are still moments when I just can’t believe it. So I think that’s never going to go away,” he added. In 2014, Tito mentioned that he and his brothers continued to feel the absence of Michael in their lives.
