Jamiyah Grant Obituary, Death; – A teenager from Union Springs has been apprehended in relation to the deadly shooting of a 16-year-old girl in an Opelika park on Saturday night.
The Opelika police have confirmed that 18-year-old Timothy Shell Jr. was arrested on Sunday and charged with murder. This arrest comes in the wake of a fatal shooting that occurred at Bandy Park around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Investigators report that a group of individuals had assembled in the park when a dispute erupted. Shortly thereafter, gunfire was exchanged, resulting in Jamiyah Grant being hit. Officers arrived to discover her suffering from a gunshot wound.
According to police, she attempted to flee the scene but crashed into another vehicle. She was swiftly transported to East Alabama Medical Center, where she was subsequently declared dead. Shell was identified as the alleged shooter during the preliminary investigation and was taken into custody by detectives from the Opelika Police Department on Sunday.
