Garbo Chang Obituary, Death; – The medical examiner in San Francisco has confirmed the identity of the man who tragically lost his life while attempting to save his dog from the ocean waves at Ocean Beach, as reported by officials on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Garbo Chang, a 59-year-old resident of San Francisco. On May 8, Chang entered the water near Lawton Street in an effort to rescue his dog, according to fire officials. Two nearby individuals also ventured into the surf to assist Chang and successfully brought him back to the shore, where they called 911 and administered lifesaving measures until emergency personnel arrived shortly thereafter.
Paramedics from the San Francisco Fire Department provided advanced life support upon their arrival and transported Chang to a local hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Fortunately, his dog managed to swim to safety and was unharmed. The specific cause of Chang’s death has yet to be disclosed. Witnesses reported observing Chang, fully dressed, entering the surf to save his dog before he collapsed in the water.
