Robert Robby Duren Obituary, Death; – Police have identified a homicide victim whose body was discovered by firefighters during a house fire in Kansas City last weekend.
On Thursday, the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department identified the victim as missing 16-year-old Robert “Robby” Duren. Duren’s disappearance had been reported to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Firefighters received word of the fire at 11:23 p.m. and went to a home near the intersection of Bales Avenue and 57th Street. When they arrived, they saw smoke and fire spilling out of the building.
KCFD crews discovered the 16-year-old’s body as they searched the building for inhabitants. Two days later, the Kansas City Police Department announced that it was investigating his death as a homicide.
Duren was last seen leaving a family member’s house the day before the fire. The fire department called in the KCPD Bomb and Arson Unit and then the Homicide Unit to investigate — which is standard procedure for a deadly fire.
