Sediqeh Samadi,Raziyeh Sigar Obituary, Death; – Two women have lost their lives, and an infant is in critical condition following a vehicle collision in a suburb of Chicago. The incident occurred in Winnetka, Illinois, around 6 p.m. local time, when a car struck the three individuals at the intersection of Church and Meadow roads, as confirmed by the Cook County Sheriff’s Office to PEOPLE.
The infant was in a stroller during the incident. One woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other succumbed to her injuries at the hospital, according to authorities. The infant was promptly taken to the hospital for medical treatment. The deceased women have been identified as Sediqeh Samadi, 37, and Raziyeh Sigar, 58, as reported by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office to ABC affiliate WLS-TV.
PEOPLE has contacted the medical examiner for further details. The driver and passenger of the vehicle were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, as stated by the sheriff’s office. The investigation is still in progress, but authorities currently do not suspect any foul play. CBS affiliate WBBM-TV noted that this unfortunate event took place in a well-known area for walking, often visited by families.
A memorial has been established at the crash site. Local resident Mia Sachs remarked, ‘This is a truly family-oriented neighborhood, with many young children around.’ She added, ‘Our community is eager to assist in any way possible. There is a strong sentiment of, ‘What can we do?’ At this moment, we have been advised that they simply need our prayers, and that is what everyone is offering.’
