Megan Bos Obituary, Death; – A 52-year-old man from Waukegan has been charged following the discovery of the body of a 37-year-old woman from Antioch, who had been missing since early March, in a container located in his yard, according to Waukegan police on Monday.

Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez faces charges of concealment of a death, abuse of a corpse, and obstructing justice in connection with the death of Megan Bos, as reported by the police. Bos was reported missing from Antioch on March 9.

Authorities from both Antioch and Waukegan spent several weeks searching for her, police stated. On Thursday, detectives from Antioch visited a business in Waukegan to interview Mendoza-Gonzalez, who was considered a person of interest due to his frequent interactions with Bos.

Initially, Mendoza-Gonzalez claimed that Bos had visited his home on February 19 and left afterward. However, he later expressed concerns about being arrested at the store without providing a reason. During questioning at the Waukegan Police Department, Mendoza-Gonzalez admitted that Bos was in a container in his yard, specifically in the 700-block of Yeoman Street. He recounted that she had come over on February 19 and, at some point, had used drugs. He stated that he left the room and upon returning, found her unresponsive, suggesting she had overdosed.

Mendoza-Gonzalez reportedly told police that he was afraid of facing consequences, which led him to keep her body in his basement for several days before transferring it to a container outside. He also mentioned that he destroyed her phone and disposed of it after her death.

Authorities discovered Bos’s body on Thursday. Mendoza-Gonzalez indicated that he was uncertain about what to do with her remains. An autopsy conducted by the Lake County Coroner’s Office on Friday revealed no signs of trauma or struggle. The investigation is still active as police await additional laboratory results. Mendoza-Gonzalez made his initial court appearance on Saturday.
