Jalen Latrell Allen Obituary, Death; – A shooting incident on Monday resulted in the death of a man from South Carolina, as reported by the Lexington County Coroner’s Office. Jalen Latrell Allen, a 22-year-old resident of Columbia, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body, according to Coroner Margaret Fisher in a statement released on Tuesday.

The incident occurred in the afternoon at the Alight Apartments located at 800 Alexander Road, as confirmed by the Cayce Police Department. This location is situated near the Congaree River and downtown Columbia, specifically between Meeting Street and U.S. 321/Blossom Street.

Allen was discovered inside a vehicle at the apartment complex and was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead due to his injuries, as stated by Fisher. No additional injuries were reported.

Details regarding the shooter or any potential accomplices remain unclear, and there is currently no information available regarding the motive behind the shooting. Authorities have indicated that they consider the incident to be isolated. While no arrests have been made thus far, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is ongoing, involving the police, the coroner’s office, and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division’s CSI unit.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. In the meantime, police have temporarily restricted access to the area, allowing residents to enter the apartment complex only upon presenting identification.
