Patricia Riddick Obituary, Death; – A newly released video by FOX 5 captures the tragic conclusion of a police chase in Prince George’s County. Authorities report that a driver, attempting to evade law enforcement, struck and killed a woman who was a mother of four. The victim has been identified by her family as 34-year-old Patricia Riddick.

Background information:
On Friday, March 21, a police officer from Seat Pleasant initiated a traffic stop on a Genesis Sedan. Although the driver initially complied, they accelerated away shortly thereafter.

The Seat Pleasant police opted not to pursue the vehicle but issued a ‘be on the lookout’ alert.

Shortly after, officers from Prince George’s County located the vehicle and engaged in what was described as a “brief pursuit,” which culminated in a crash.

The pursued vehicle was traveling along MLK Highway, speeding towards the intersection with Belle Haven Drive. Riddick was reportedly crossing the intersection in her Nissan SUV around 7:30 p.m. when the Genesis collided with her.

Reactions:
Riddick’s sister, Tasha, shared with FOX 5 that she was a beautiful person, deeply cherished, who had recently embraced Islam and dedicated herself to community service.

A family friend, speaking to FOX 5, expressed that this loss is particularly devastating for the children involved.

“I honestly broke down crying because I was just like ‘oh my God’, these kids are going through another tragedy, and it hurts real bad,” said friend Corinna Watkins.

The family noted that Riddick had already faced significant hardships over the past year, having lost both the father of her children and their stepfather. Now, her children must cope with the loss of their mother as well.

“They have lost two dads and now, on top of that, their mother. I just pray for them. Pray for their hearts. Their lives are just shattered right now,” Watkins added.

The reasons behind the initial traffic stop remain unclear, as do the potential charges the driver may face. However, State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy stated, “Those individuals who fled, thinking they could escape consequences, are now facing increasingly serious charges.”
