Aaron Nix Obituary, Death; – A resident of Flat Rock has been exonerated in connection with a fatal shooting, asserting that his actions were justified according to state law.
A judge determined that Jerry Hicks acted within his rights, leading to the death of Aaron Nix. The ruling indicated that Hicks was protected under the state’s Stand Your Ground legislation. As a result of this decision, Hicks will not be subjected to a trial, and the charges against him cannot be reinstated.
Hicks was taken into custody in April 2023 following the shooting of Nix at a Mexican restaurant in Scottsboro, where he was dining with his family. According to investigative reports, Hicks and his family were approached by an individual who was shouting about Hicks’ child, who had gone to the restroom.
The altercation reportedly escalated outside in the parking lot, during which Nix struck Hicks multiple times. It was at this point that Hicks retrieved his firearm and shot Nix once, resulting in his death.
