Mikayla Butcher Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the identity of the woman who lost her life in a rollover accident in Cass County on Saturday. According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Mikayla Butcher, a resident of Bemidji, succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the incident that occurred on Saturday evening.
The driver involved in the accident, a 23-year-old man from Walker, has been apprehended and is currently held at the Cass County Jail on charges of probation violation and probable cause for driving while intoxicated, as indicated by jail records.
Investigators believe that speed and alcohol may have contributed to the crash, which took place around 7 p.m. on County Road 13 in rural Walker. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a 2007 Dodge Nitro overturned in a ditch.
Butcher sustained injuries that were fatal at the scene, while two men were transported to Bemidji Sanford Hospital, and another man was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Park Rapids for medical care. Police have secured a search warrant to conduct a blood draw from the driver, with the results still pending as of Tuesday.
