Russel Barnes Jr. Obituary, Death; – An 88-year-old resident of Pekin passed away on Saturday due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle collision that occurred on September 3, as reported by Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood. Russel Barnes Jr., aged 88, from Pekin, suffered severe blunt force trauma to both his chest and head, which ultimately led to his death following a two-vehicle accident in Peoria.
The incident took place at the intersection of East Elaine Avenue and North Knoxville Avenue in Peoria at approximately 10:50 a.m. on September 3. He was subsequently transported from the scene to OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center in critical condition. According to Harwood’s news release, Barnes’ health declined, and he passed away at 9:59 p.m. on Saturday.
