Joseph A. Couch; – An active shooter, identified as Joseph A. Couch, 32 years old, remains at large following a shooting incident near I-75 in Kentucky, which resulted in multiple injuries, as reported by authorities.

Law enforcement is actively searching for Couch, who is classified as a “person of interest” in the shooting that occurred shortly after 6:30 PM, approximately nine miles north of London, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.

Initially, I-75 was closed at Exit 49 and US 25 due to the “active shooter situation,” but the sheriff’s office announced that the highway has since reopened in both directions around 9:20 PM.

Officials have cautioned the public against approaching Couch, as he is deemed “armed and dangerous.” As of now, he has not been captured, as confirmed by London Mayor Randall Weddle.

Seven individuals sustained injuries, although not all were due to gunfire, and fortunately, there have been no fatalities linked to the incident, according to the mayor. Some injuries were the result of an accident. The identities of the victims and their medical conditions have yet to be disclosed.

Governor Andy Beshear has advised residents to steer clear of the area via a post on X, stating, “Kentucky, we are aware of a shooting on I-75 in Laurel County. Law enforcement has shut the interstate down in both directions at exit 49. Please avoid the area. We will provide more details once they are available.”
