Kaylee Xiong Obituary, Death; – A young woman has succumbed to her injuries after being struck by a vehicle while riding a scooter in Sacramento on Wednesday evening, according to police reports. Emergency services received a call at approximately 6:15 p.m. regarding the incident at the intersection of Franklin Boulevard and Cosumnes River Boulevard.
The 18-year-old woman was initially reported to be in critical condition. However, early Thursday morning, authorities confirmed her passing. The coroner has identified her as Kaylee Xiong. The driver involved in the incident remained at the scene, and authorities have stated that there is no suspicion of driving under the influence.
Anthony Gamble from the Sacramento Police Department emphasized the importance of shared responsibility among motorists, cyclists, pedestrians, and scooter riders. “Awareness of one’s surroundings is crucial, and we must all look out for one another,” he remarked.
The road was closed until late Wednesday night, and the circumstances leading to the collision remain unclear. This incident follows another tragic event in which a UC Davis resident physician was killed after being hit by a vehicle while riding an electric scooter in east Sacramento the previous week.
