Jordan Calloway Obituary, Death; – A stepfather has been charged with murder following the shooting death of his stepson at a hotel in Gwinnett County on Tuesday night.
On Wednesday, the Gwinnett County Police Department announced the arrest of 54-year-old Johnny Mays Blackshear Jr., who was taken into custody without incident during a traffic stop in Walton County after the violent event. Blackshear faces multiple charges, including malice murder, which is the most severe murder charge in Georgia, as well as felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes.
Authorities reported that they were summoned to a “domestic-related incident” on Tuesday night in the vicinity of Venture Parkway and Market Street, close to a cluster of hotels. The area near the Courtyard by Marriott was cordoned off with police tape and officers were present.
The Gwinnett County Police Department identified the victim as 26-year-old Jordan Calloway from Duluth, who is the stepson of Blackshear.
Upon their arrival on Tuesday night, officers discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Gwinnett County Police Public Information Officer Juan Madiedo stated that paramedics were dispatched to the scene to transport the man to the hospital; however, he succumbed to his injuries.
“We have gathered information from witnesses and others present during the incident, confirming that this was a domestic-related situation involving a male and an individual known to him,” Madiedo remarked at the time. “Currently, investigators are working diligently to locate this individual and ensure justice is served.”
