Austin J. Wagoner Obituary, Death; – A fatality has occurred as a result of a single-vehicle accident late Wednesday on a highway in southwestern Kansas, according to officials. The incident was reported at 10:35 p.m. on US-54 highway, approximately one mile east of Meade.
As per the Kansas Highway Patrol, a 2016 Kia Forte was traveling westbound on US-54 when it veered across the center line and into the eastbound lanes, proceeding through the median. The vehicle subsequently collided with a culvert and vaulted over US-160 highway before rolling multiple times. It then cleared a barbed-wire fence, ultimately coming to a stop.
The driver, identified as Austin J. Wagoner, 37, from Albuquerque, New Mexico, was taken to St. Catherine’s Hospital in Dodge City, where he was pronounced deceased. The patrol reported that Wagoner was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was wearing his seat belt at the time of the accident.
