McKenna Lecher Obituary, Death; – A community is in mourning following the tragic death of a teenage girl who was reportedly struck by a school bus on Tuesday in Kentucky.
According to a coroner’s report obtained by People, the victim has been identified as 15-year-old McKenna Lecher. The report states that she was “pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained from being hit by a Clark County school bus.” The coroner indicated that the incident occurred while the teenager was attempting to cross Veterans Memorial Parkway near Ironworks Road in Winchester.
The Winchester Police Department announced via a Facebook post that a section of the roadway was closed around 6:40 a.m. and was reopened by 8 a.m.
In the aftermath of the incident, Clark County Public Schools Superintendent Dustin Howard released a statement on social media. “We are deeply saddened to report that the pedestrian, a current student at George Rogers Clark High School, has passed away,” he stated, urging the community to keep the family in their thoughts and prayers.
On Wednesday, the Winchester police shared information on social media regarding a fundraiser organized for the victim’s family. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
