Zaquan Corbett Jr Obituary, Death; – A 14-year-old victim of a shooting incident that occurred on Friday afternoon in Orangeburg has been named, as reported by WIS News 10’s affiliate, The Times & Democrat (T&D). The Orangeburg County Coroner, Samuetta Marshall, confirmed the identity of the teenager as Zaquan Corbett Jr., a resident of Orangeburg, according to T&D.
The shooting took place around 5:20 p.m. on Friday near the intersection of Wheeler and Nottingham Streets, as stated by The Times & Democrat. A local resident on Nottingham Road recounted hearing what he believed to be shotgun blasts on Friday night, followed by the sight of police vehicles outside his residence.
“We heard approximately six shots,” he remarked. “Upon seeing all the police presence, I decided to return inside my home.” Upon arrival, officers from the Orangeburg Department of Public Safety (ODPS) observed several individuals fleeing the scene and a white vehicle departing at high speed.
T&D reported that one individual was transported to MUSC Health-Orangeburg, while another was airlifted to a different medical facility. No arrests have been made thus far, but the investigation by ODPS is ongoing. “It’s relatively quiet in this area,” he noted. “This is the only serious incident I’ve heard of occurring here.”
