William McNitt Obituary, Death; – New Chicago Police are currently awaiting the filing of charges against an individual involved in the shooting death of his father on Monday night, as stated by the police chief on Tuesday.

Officers responded to a family disturbance call at approximately 9:26 p.m. on October 28, in the 500 block of West 37th Avenue, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page. Upon arrival, they discovered a man who had sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Emergency medical services transported the victim, identified by the Lake County Coroner’s office as 43-year-old William McNitt, to Powers Health Hobart, where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries. The police indicated in their post that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
