Tyreek Tinsley Obituary, Death; – The family of 19-year-old Tyreek Tinsley has initiated a wrongful death lawsuit following his shooting and death at the hands of police officers during a confrontation in an apartment complex located in Abington Township on March 6, 2025.
On Wednesday, Abington Township Police Chief Patrick Molloy provided additional details regarding the incident that resulted in the teenager’s death.
As initially reported by law enforcement, Tinsley was fatally shot during an event that transpired at 11:15 a.m. on March 6, 2025, within an apartment complex situated along the 2300 block of Rosemore Avenue in the Glenside area of the township.
In this incident, officials initially stated that officers were dispatched after an 11-year-old girl dialed 9-1-1 to inform police that she had escaped from an apartment where her mother’s boyfriend — now identified as Tinsley — was allegedly holding her mother at gunpoint.
At the time of the incident, officials indicated that while the officers were conversing with the child outside, they heard screams and another gunshot emanating from the apartment.
