Toni Westover Obituary, Death; – The judge overseeing the bench trial of a 33-year-old man charged with the murder of an Akron mother in July 2022 received the case on Tuesday afternoon. Quinton Nixon is acting as his own legal representative.
The trial commenced on October 1 before Judge Christine Croce. After a pause of several weeks, the trial resumed on November 5, during which both parties delivered their closing arguments. Judge Croce has scheduled Nixon to return to court on Wednesday morning, although it remains uncertain whether the verdict will be announced at that time.
According to Akron police, Nixon is accused of killing 34-year-old Toni Westover on July 25, 2022. Westover was discovered deceased from gunshot wounds at a residence located in the 2200 block of Maryland Avenue in Akron. Following Westover’s murder, detectives diligently pursued leads, conducted interviews, and analyzed evidence.
Nixon was taken into custody in August 2022. Westover, who worked as a medical assistant, is survived by her seven-year-old daughter. “She cherished her role as a mother,” her sister remarked. “Her daughter was her entire world.”
