Timothy D Kline Obituary, Death; – An individual from Amsterdam lost his life when his pickup truck, traveling westbound, veered into the eastbound lane and collided with a tractor trailer on Route 67 on Thursday morning, as reported by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 25-year-old Timothy D. Kline, succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. Initial investigations revealed that Kline’s westbound vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane for reasons yet to be determined, directly in front of a tractor trailer operated by J.B. Hunt Transportation.

The driver of the tractor trailer was unable to evade the impending collision, resulting in a head-on crash at approximately 6:53 a.m. on Thursday. Deputies and state police who arrived at the scene attempted to administer life-saving measures before transferring care to Lake Valley EMS. Montgomery County Coroner Tim Riley was summoned to the location, where Kline was pronounced dead.

Officials stated that the tractor trailer driver, J.B. Hunt Transportation, along with witnesses present at the scene, are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Unit and the Joint Sheriff’s/Amsterdam Police Accident Reconstruction Unit.

Following the incident, a section of Route 67 between Waite and West Line roads was closed for several hours on Thursday. In light of the tragedy, Amsterdam High School students were dismissed early, as communicated in a letter to families, which referenced the “passing of a beloved individual close to the Greater Amsterdam School District Family.”

Kline was recognized as one of the top 10 students in his graduating class of 2017. An Eagle Scout, he pursued engineering studies at SUNY Polytechnic Institute and was an active member of the National Honor Society and a varsity athlete. His mother is employed as a teacher at the high school.

The district’s letter emphasized, “We believe that this decision is in the best interest of our school community, allowing everyone the time to grieve, process, and support one another.”
