Thomas Wade III Obituary, Death; – A family is mourning on Monday following a shooting that occurred late Sunday, resulting in the death of their loved one at an apartment complex in northwest Oklahoma City.
As of Monday afternoon, police are actively searching for the suspects involved. The victim has been identified by the Oklahoma City Police as 24-year-old Thomas Wade III. ‘I received a phone call a couple of hours after the incident,’ stated Thomas Wade, the victim’s father.
This is a call that no parent wishes to receive. Wade expressed his heartbreak while standing near the scene just hours after his son was fatally shot late Sunday night. ‘He was a good kid with a kind heart. His life was taken too soon,’ Wade remarked. The police were alerted around 11:30 p.m. to the apartment complex located just north of the intersection at NW 23rd Street and Portland Avenue, where two individuals had knocked on a door shortly before the shooting.
‘When the victim opened the door, he was shot and killed right at the threshold,’ explained Msgt. Gary Knight from the Oklahoma City Police Department. A woman and two children were present inside the apartment at the time, but fortunately, they were unharmed. Wade informed KFOR that the children, aged 2 and 4, are his son’s. ‘He was a wonderful father, an exceptional dad,’ Wade said. ‘No one deserves to have their home invaded and their lives disrupted by someone who seemingly had malicious intent.’ The motive for the shooting remains unclear at this time. ‘We are still working to understand the events that transpired. We hope to provide answers to these questions soon,’ Knight added.
