Taylor Russell Obituary, Death; – The man who went missing in the Fox River Tuesday evening, and whose body was recovered Thursday morning, has now been identified, according to the Kane County Coroner’s Office.
On Tuesday night, the St. Charles Fire Department responded to a call that a person had gone missing in the Fox River near Ferson Creek, according to past reporting. With assistance from 29 area fire departments, first responders initiated a water rescue operation. On Wednesday, search operations transitioned from rescue to recovery.
On Thursday morning, a man’s body positively identified as the missing kayaker — was recovered after a person called 911 at about 5:58 a.m. The body was located in the Fox River near the Great Western Trail Bridge in St. Charles.
The Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy on Thursday and identified the individual as Taylor Russell, 25, of Hanover Park, according to a news release from the Coroner’s Office.
The Coroner’s Office said the preliminary cause of death was found to be drowning. It also collected toxicology samples that are undergoing testing at a forensic laboratory. The investigation into Russell’s death is still ongoing, officials said.
