Sovan Koy Obituary, Death; – A 35-year-old man who lost his life in a collision in Long Beach was identified on Wednesday.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the identity of the motorist as Sovan Koy, who was declared dead at the scene, according to the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD). The incident took place around 7:35 a.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of Wardlow Road and Palo Verde Avenue.

As reported by the police, the driver of a 2002 Toyota Sequoia, traveling east on Wardlow Road, failed to stop at a red light at Palo Verde Avenue. Meanwhile, a 2014 Toyota Tundra, proceeding south, entered the intersection on a green light, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles. The impact caused the Toyota Sequoia to overturn, ejecting the driver, as stated by the police.

The driver of the Tundra remained at the scene and cooperated fully with the investigation. Traffic was diverted from the area while authorities examined the circumstances surrounding the fatality. Preliminary findings suggest that speed and distracted driving may have contributed to the crash, according to police.

Individuals with information about the incident are encouraged to reach out to LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective David Dougherty at 562-570-7355. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477 or visit lacrimestoppers.org.
