Sherise Parrish,Latianna King Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified the five victims who lost their lives in a collision involving a train and an SUV in northwest Indiana on Wednesday night.
According to police, the accident took place near the intersection of U.S. Route 20 and Utah Street shortly after 10 p.m. on Wednesday night. All individuals inside the SUV were ejected from the vehicle and were pronounced dead at the scene, as reported by authorities.
The victims have been identified as Maurice Parrish, Sherise Parrish, and Latianna King, all aged 20. Additionally, Byron Towns, 21, and De’Mario Craig, 24, also perished in the incident. The coroner’s report indicates that all five victims resided at the same address in Gary.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the SUV attempted to bypass active crossing gates before being struck by a train on the South Shore Line on Wednesday night. There were passengers on the train during the incident, but police confirmed that none sustained injuries.
In a statement, the Gary Police Department expressed their heartfelt condolences to the friends and families affected by this tragic event. “You are in our thoughts and prayers, and we are dedicated to offering you steadfast support during this challenging time,” the department stated in a release.
