Shawn D Hill Obituary, Death; – The Chesterfield Police Department has confirmed the identity of the individual who was fatally shot during an encounter with law enforcement on Sunday morning. According to police reports, at approximately 4:45 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle operating erratically on Iron Bridge Road.

“The suspect vehicle came to a halt on Jessup Road, just off Iron Bridge Road, and the driver exited the vehicle in a hurried manner,” police stated earlier this week. “The officer repeatedly instructed the driver to return to his vehicle.”

The driver, later identified as 46-year-old Shawn D. Hill, reportedly did not follow the officer’s commands and instead approached him. Hill “resisted the officer’s efforts to detain him and engaged in a struggle,” according to police accounts.

Subsequently, Hill allegedly struck the officer and attempted to seize the officer’s firearm. “The officer deployed a Taser and pepper spray; however, Hill managed to re-enter his vehicle and fled north on Jessup Road,” police reported.

The officer pursued Hill along Jessup Road and onto Pineland Road, where Hill executed a U-turn and discharged several rounds at the officer. “Hill then reached the intersection of Pineland Road and Jessup Road, where he encountered a second officer; he fired multiple shots at this officer’s vehicle, prompting a return of fire,” police indicated.

A third officer arrived at the scene as the two preceding officers continued to follow Hill’s vehicle on Jessup Road, approaching Iron Bridge Road. “Both the third officer and the second officer discharged their weapons at the suspect vehicle, which subsequently slowed and came to a halt in a westbound lane of Iron Bridge Road,” police stated.

Hill was declared deceased at the scene, with no injuries reported among the officers involved in the incident. “The three officers engaged in the encounter have been placed on administrative leave in accordance with departmental policy,” police added. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to contact the Chesterfield County Police Department at 804-748-1251 or Crime Solvers at 804-748-0660.
