Ryan Kobayashi Obituary, Death; – Ryan Kobayashi, the father of a 31-year-old woman from Maui who disappeared in Los Angeles nearly two weeks ago, was discovered deceased near Los Angeles International Airport early Sunday morning, as confirmed by officials.

Ryan Kobayashi, along with other family members, had traveled to Los Angeles to search for his daughter, Hannah Kobayashi, who went missing shortly after failing to catch a connecting flight at LAX.

On November 18, Ryan Kobayashi spoke with Nexstar’s KTLA in an effort to reach out to his daughter. “I miss her,” he expressed. “I just want her to know that, and I hope she can reach out — anything.”

The family has not had any communication with Hannah Kobayashi since November 10, with her last known whereabouts being in downtown Los Angeles near the Pico Metro Station on November 11. On Sunday, the Los Angeles Police Department reported that officers responded to a call regarding a death in the 6100 block of Century Boulevard around 4 a.m.

While the LAPD has not disclosed any specifics regarding the cause of death, a nonprofit organization believed to be assisting in the search released a statement on behalf of the family.

“The Kobayashi family has suffered an unimaginable tragedy today,” stated the RAD Movement. “After an exhaustive 13-day search throughout Los Angeles, Hannah’s father, Ryan Kobayashi, tragically took his own life. This loss has intensified the family’s anguish beyond measure.”

Although Hannah Kobayashi’s family has not yet issued a personal statement, the RAD Movement emphasized the urgent need for the public to remain focused on the search for her. “Hannah IS still actively missing and is believed to be in imminent danger,” the nonprofit added. “It is essential for everyone to stay alert in their efforts to find Hannah.”

The RAD Movement also requested that the public refrain from contacting any family members, allowing them the necessary space to grieve. “The trauma they are experiencing is profound, and they now bear the additional weight of mourning the loss of their family’s cornerstone while navigating the next steps,” the nonprofit remarked.
