Authorities detailed that two individuals fled the residence via the rooftop, with one of them—identified later as 33-year-old Robert Langlais—attempting to conceal himself in a chimney, invoking the spirit of the holiday season.

Unfortunately, Langlais became lodged in the chimney and required the assistance of the detectives he had been trying to escape. With the collaboration of the Fall River Fire Department and Fall River Emergency Medical Services, he was extricated and taken into custody. Due to the unusual circumstances, Langlais was transported to a local hospital for precautionary measures and was subsequently medically cleared.
