Ray Allan Crenshaw Obituary, Death;- A suspected intoxicated driver was involved in a collision with an SUV at an intersection in the Twin Cities late last week, resulting in the death of the other motorist, officials reported on Monday.
The incident took place just before 3 p.m. on Friday in Shakopee, specifically at the intersection of County Road 18 and Preserve Trail.
The victim has been identified by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office as Ray Allan Crenshaw, an 83-year-old resident of Savage. Crenshaw was declared deceased on Friday at St. Francis Regional Medical Center.
Tony A. Benjamin, a 48-year-old from Shakopee, was arrested on Friday in connection with the incident on charges of suspected criminal vehicular homicide.
According to Police Capt. Jamie Pearson, Benjamin is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. The Scott County Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing the case for potential charges.
Benjamin was traveling north on County Road 18 in a pickup truck when he collided with Crenshaw, who was making a turn from Preserve Trail, Pearson explained.
